Iron Supplements Pregnancy

On a daily basis, most healthy adults do not need to supplement the amount of iron that you get from their diet. If you eat a healthy and normal diet that is well rounded, you are likely going to get adequate iron from your foods. But if you’ve got a record of anemia in your circle of relatives or you’ve a medical circumstance that could result in anemia, it is wise to get some consultation from your health practitioner on the types and intensities of iron supplements to take and get on a program to stabilise this part of your wellbeing picture fairly quickly.

Doctors will often suggest an iron supplement if you are pregnant or if there was an injury where you want to increase the iron level in your blood. But there are classes of people that are going through a dramatic physical change where keeping an eye on your iron levels is a good idea. Kids or kids who are experiencing a growth spurt should be monitored for their iron levels. Girls entering adolescence or ladies in menopause frequently get anemic and need to supplement their iron. The elderly are another class of people that will often need some aid with this part of their health profile because of changes in diet or a higher need for iron in the blood.

Some terms to be aware of when you begin to examine iron supplements are “ferris” and “ferric” iron and “elemental iron”. Of the 2 classes ferris iron is simpler for the body to soak up and put to work than ferric iron. “Elemental iron” is a listing you will see on the label of the supplemental that essentially means what quantity of the iron in that supplement which will get soaked up by the body. You will have a supplement which has a high iron content but a low proportion of elemental iron and you will get less benefit from that supplement because a lower amount of the iron in the supplement will be employed by your body.

As we discussed, most of the get the iron they need naturally so unless there’s a medical need, you shouldn’t add iron supplements to a normal daily diet the way you may take a multivitamin or fiber supplements. as you almost always add an iron supplement to your diet because of some medical concern, you will have an opportunity to discuss the side effects of the iron supplement so you can avoid unpleasant results from a supplement you are taking for your health.

While most iron supplements are not perilous, to be revived to full health, let your health practitioner guide the sort of supplement to get and the way to use it. The advice of your GP is also vital before starting to use iron supplements if you are on other medicines. But by being cautious with how you use this kind of supplement to address a medical need, you can get a lot of benefit from iron supplements and be revived to full health so you don’t need them anymore.

Love Over Trust in Relationships

A fairly young couple in an emotional state of turmoil came to see me. . The husband called me and said he was recommended by a previous client whose marriage I saved from an incredibly desperate situation. He was sure I could help him because of what he knew about his friend’s situation, and wanted to set up an appointment with me as soon as possible. He said he wasn’t sure if his wife would come but he wanted to see me either way. I told him I didn’t meet with individuals who are having difficulty with their marriage, except in the most extreme situations, because I didn’t want either partner to mistrust the process (I believe in transparency and the integrity it brings about). He was uncomfortable but said he would talk to his wife and get back to me.

In 15 minutes he called and begged me to make an appointment that very day, which I just couldn’t do. When they did come in later that week (I had to shuffle my appointments like crazy) I had a very weird feeling about it. I don’t ask people too many questions when we meet (problems are natural when folks don’t know how to enjoy a marriage) but I always ask how many children they have and how old they are. This particular couple had two little ones, less than four years old.

I didn’t get very far in telling them I’m not a western psychologist and explaining the process I use when the wife suddenly broke out into tears. She blurted out in between her sobs, “I don’t trust him and I don’t know if I ever will be able to ever again.”

Although I usually stop people from going on about what took place I decided to let her. Her story unraveled, or should I say their story unraveled. Mr. Husband was cheating on his wife with her best friend. When she caught him he denied everything at first, but later confessed to what he had done and told her it was a one-time fling that would never happen again. Unfortunately it turned out to be far from a one-time fling. It turned out he was also having an affair with another friend of theirs from the gym. He admitted to everything and was crying as he was telling her how he would never do it again, that it was all way in the past. When I asked how long ago it happened they told me it was two weeks ago. I was floored; way in the past?! But I didn’t let on. As far as I was concerned they had two little babies who needed their parents. Still I wasn’t about to condone what he had done, or make it seem like it was no big deal. It was a huge deal to her!

I’m not a therapist. In terms of marriage I think of myself as a reverse engineer. I understand how marriages work; I understand the dynamics. I know what breaks them apart and I know what holds them together. I know what makes people happy in a marriage and I know what makes people miserable. I also know that we people are not perfect. As outrageous as this man’s behavior seemed to be I have seen worse and I have seen couples get past it.

So there are questions you may wish to ask and questions you should ask.

I don’t mean to assume anything but maybe most people would be asking questions like… “Is it possible for them to get past the betrayal?” There are sub questions too… “Can he ever be trusted? Will he do it again? Will she forgive him? Will she hold it over him? Will they need therapy?” …and so on.

Those might be good questions, but I asked some different ones. The first question I asked I posed to myself. I asked myself, “What was the value of this marriage?” In other words, is there a really good reason to save the marriage? The answer to that question was a resounding yes. This was a young couple who had two little children who needed both parents in their lives ahead. Despite the general cavalier attitude many professionals have these days about how children will do after a divorce, I personally think children are destroyed by broken homes. I have discussed this at greater length in other articles so I won’t repeat myself (if you are interested in hearing my thoughts on this topic you can read more here: (blog)).

The other question I asked myself, and I know the answer very well, is how long could I expect the marriage to last if it is not a happy one? No matter how important a marriage, the reality is people won’t stay together very long if they are suffering.

I turned my attention to the couple.

I asked the young mother if she loved her husband. I think she was a little shocked to hear this question after all of this very upsetting information came to light, but I didn’t care. Despite her quizzical look I asked the question a second time, and I did so without injecting any irony into my voice. It was a straightforward question; do you love your husband? She said yes. I then asked him if he loved his wife. As the apparent guilty party he went on a bit about how much he loved her and how sorry he was, etc. But I put up my hand in a gesture for him to stop and asked him again; do you love your wife? He said yes.

In order to acknowledge her and inject a bit of humor I knew they would both appreciate I said, “You have a hell of a way of showing it.” I smiled a bit. My smile was way of communicating to them everything was going to be OK.

I asked them if they could imagine getting into an airplane without any formal instruction, and take off relying only on anecdotal tidbits from friendly relatives and friends. I asked them if they thought they would make huge mistakes or little mistakes. They both agreed they would make all kinds of mistakes and probably crash if they even got the plane off the ground to begin with. I explained to them a marriage can test us and will especially test us in areas of our own personal and individual weaknesses.

“It’s a good idea,” I said, “to recognize all people have various strengths and weaknesses that we don’t see, or even begin to imagine until that person is placed in a situation that will test them.” I said, “When we enter into a marriage it isn’t our job to criticize our partner for their weaknesses. It is our job to support them through their difficult times.”

I asked Mrs. Wife if she felt her husband was proud of his disloyalty. I asked her if when they were standing on the altar getting married she thought he was just waiting for his moment to cheat on her, or if he was a victim of his own weakness which was exasperated by the dynamics of dysfunctional behaviors. Naturally she said she didn’t know because of this current state of confusion. I assured her it wasn’t likely. I asked Mr. Husband if she was a perfect wife and then I said please don’t answer that question. I turned to Mrs. Wife and asked if she was a perfect wife. Before she could answer I told her we already knew the answer to that question, and not only is it not her fault that he cheated on her but it wasn’t his place to point out her flaws as a wife either. I told them both it was a great idea to try to be perfect. Making every effort to be the perfect spouse changes the dynamics of a marriage completely.

I told them I was sure their marriage would not only be fine, but they would probably have the most incredible marriage of any of their friends. It would be far beyond anything they ever expected, but they needed a starting point. I asked them if they were ready for that. I asked Mrs. Wife if she could have a perfect marriage would she be willing to let go of the past as best as she could. The energy shifted and I was able to help them begin their new life. I didn’t tell them what to do or offer them therapy. I simply explained what they needed to know in order to have a happy marriage and a wonderful family. I taught them the differences between a man and woman, how minds work, what a marriage is by definition, and how they could have the most amazing marriage by learning what they needed to know. They learned the differences between marital communication and other communication. We spent three 2-hour sessions together; it was all they needed.

I don’t think it’s up to me to explain away people’s behaviors or ask people to forgive each other. As far as I’m concerned the only one who needs to ask for forgiveness is the one who actually feels the pain they have caused for someone else. Until that request for forgiveness comes from an understanding of the pain it has caused, a request for forgiveness seems insincere and manipulative. But I think we should ask forgiveness from God along with guidance that teaches us the right way to behave. I also do not believe in guilt and shame. If we carried all the burdens of our past bad actions we would collapse under the weight. We’re here to learn, grow and support each other in the process.

Trust in a relationship is not as important as love in a relationship. The friends who I just described began their life again with virtually no trust. But their love made all of the difference. They were able to succeed in building a relationship because they chose to love each other despite each other’s flaws and failures. Love is not only the foundation of relationships, it is the foundation for everything. When they and other couples learned that expressions of love are what we actually do and say, they were able to go beyond selfishness and give love without the usual filters and walls.

Please don’t expect perfection from your spouse, but do expect yourself to love and support your spouse, and by all means tell them, “I love you.”

Romanian Women And Their Culture

Modern Romanian women are culturally quite accomplished. Their attitude towards acquiring knowledge and keeping in touch with events taking place around the world is exemplary. They make diligent students, and are determined to find their place in the world. They make their country proud, no doubt about it.

Compared to most other countries in the world, Romanian women score very high in terms of their intellect. And this opens a lot of doors for them. The Romanian economy is going through an important phase at the moment. Its fledgling market economy is experiencing unprecedented growth in the new democratic setting. There are fantastic opportunities knocking at the doors of its citizens, and with their unquestionable capability, Romanian women stand to benefit greatly in the new scheme of things. Western Europe is coming round to the view that there is no dearth of talent among the Romanian people, and the beauty coupled with intelligence that the Romanian women possess will surely bring them to the forefront outside the country as well.

How cultured a Romanian woman is depends on her personality and her attitude. She does not want to stagnate in the boredom of daily life, but is always trying out new things, learning about new ideas and acquiring new information to augment her knowledge.

The cultural or educational accomplishments of a woman do not imply she will be any less sensuous or desirable. Women have such diverse personalities, and men still find them appealing. Women can be materially or spiritually minded, can be serious or frivolous, and yes, can be blondes or brunettes. There are no definite archetypes of women, who attract men, whatever myths might be prevalent at any time. The fact remains that men find it exciting and challenging to unravel the mysteries of a feminine mind.

Now in Romania, women with ample education and cultural finesse can be found across the length and breadth of the country. Such women might not be elegance personified, but are not vain either. They display neither hauteur nor a delicate persona, are not overly passionate, not liable to take risks in order to live a dangerous and thrilling life. They will not keep an inane smile pasted on their faces forever. They are real women, sensible and serene. They may not always set male hearts on fire or turn out to be electrifying company.

Such a woman is not hurtful and will never harm another person in her life. She has a deep faith in religion and is likely to treat a mistake, however insignificant, as a sin. In essence, she is one of countless ordinary women in Romania, but that is not her only description. She can be well versed in matters of culture. She is an avid reader of good literature, appreciates abstract modern painting and sculpture and is well acquainted with classical music. The conservatism in her personal life cannot obscure her achievements in the cultural or educational spheres.

That is the general picture of cultured and intelligent women of Romania. However, that image probably is more fitting for the women over thirty. The younger breed of Romanian women is more extroverted in their behaviour and more eager to please. They are firmly of the opinion that in order to enter into a meaningful relationship and to make it last long, they should evolve and reinvent themselves on and on. They are more conscious of their appearance and more careful about how they dress. They also try their best to be charming and witty, so that men find their company enjoyable.

In essence, a young woman of Romania is at once intelligent and charming. On the one hand, she puts herself at ease in any situation and her radiant beauty makes her stand out in a crowd. On the other hand, she can be an affectionate partner who stays in love with you.

Why study Spanish in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico?

You had just arrived at the airport of Tuxla Guttierez, Chiapas, Mexico half an hour ago. Now you are on a highway snaking its way upwards 2500 meters, on your way to San Cristobal de las Casas, the home of the Zapatistas and the central meeting ground for the local indigenous groups like the Chamulas. On your right you can see the world falling away as you get closer to the clouds. It is your first time here. You have read the travel guides, and searched the internet for things to do. Everywhere you looked you ran across the same things, Palenque, Chamula, Lagos de Montebello. But you want something different. You want to see the real Chiapas, and visit places that are not overflowing with tour groups. As you look out at the sky you see two green streaks. As you focus in on them you realize that it is actually a pair of parakeets flying towards some unknown location. “Where did they come from?” you wonder….

Cima de Cottoras

Located 1.5 hours outside of Tuxla Guttierez (take the bus service that leaves from the Plaza de Marimbau), the Cima de Cotorras (Parakeets), is a 180 meter deep sink hole. While the area surrounding area tends to be dry during the summers, at the bottom of this sink hole is a tropical jungle that remains humid all year round. But the main attraction of this location is the thousands of parakeets that call this sinkhole home. For the adventurous, a daily tour is offered at 5:00 a.m. to descend halfway down the sinkhole, and watch as the thousands parakeets wake up and ascend in unison out of there jungle home. Facilities include a hotel, camp grounds and one restaurant overlooking the sinkhole. Proceeds from the site go to maintain the natural habitat of the cotorras.

… The clouds part, and you find yourself looking at a valley surrounded by green mountain tops. In the middle of this valley you see signs of life. San Cristóbal de las Casas. You can already make out the the Churches of San Cristóbal and Guadalupe on there respective hills, looking over the town. It must have rained recently, because you see puddle of water all over the road. You think to yourself “they almost look like lakes”…

Lagos de Colon

The Lagos de Colon are located 4 hours south of San Cristóbal de las Casas. Take a shuttle from San Cristóbal to Comítan and then transfer to a bus that goes to Lagos de Colon. This string of lakes are known for there smooth mirror-like surfaces. A popular weekend site for local Mexicans, these beautiful lakes are perfect for swimming and relaxing the day away. Follow the path away from the main lake area and you will find beautiful waterfall, and keep going down this path and you will find a small set of newly discovered Mayan ruins. Facilities include a guest house, free camping area, 3 small family restaurants, and during the day there are a few small vendors selling food like fried plantains and fresh fruits.

… The taxi driver turns from the main road onto Ave. Insurgents. You have just entered the historic downtown of San Crístóbal. Colonial style building surround you. As you are driving you pass an incredible potpourri of humanity. Europeans, American, Asians, Mexican and numerous indigenous groups. As you try to take it all in, your thoughts are interrupted by a grumbling sound. It’s your stomach. You realize you haven’t eaten since breakfast 10 hours ago. “Where could I get a bite to eat?” you wonder…

Comítan

Just 1 hour south of San Cristóbal is the town of Comítan. Most tourist only pass through the outskirts of this town on their way to the Lagos de Montebellos or Chiflon. They are missing out. From the bus station take a short taxi ride (or walk for 15 minutes) to the beautiful historic center. The central zocalo is pristine, and is littered with art and sculptures from around the world. The plants and flowers are always in bloom and the weather is always perfect. The main attraction of Comítan is that most local Chapanecos (people from Chiapas), acknowledge that it has the best food in the state. Restaurants on the plaza are tasty, but tend to be little more expensive. If you want the best deal simply walk 1-2 blocks away from the Zocalo in any direction and find a local restaurant.

… You fight down the growing feeling of hunger. First things first. You need to find a hotel. Luckily there seems to be dozens on every block in San Cristóbal. You ask the taxi driver to drop you off in front of one that looks nice and seems to fit your budget. You pay your fare and get your bags out of the trunk, but as you turn around to enter the hotel, you find you have can’t pass. You are surrounded by dozens of indigenous women and children saying “comprame”. You don’t speak Spanish, but it is not hard to figure out that they want you to buy one of there multicolored bracelets, belts or Sub-commandante Marcos dolls. “Where did they all come from?” you ask…

San Juan del Rio

The small village of San Juan del Rio is not on any map. You have to take a collectivo (local public transport) to Cancuc, and then take a local taxi (probably the back of a pickup) to the entrance to this village. From this entrance you have to walk 1.5 hours to get to the village. The village has no roads, or electricity. The town of 500 people survives by growing coffee. It is a perfect place to see how life is for most Chapanecos. Have traditional food, cooked over an open fire. Spend some time relaxing in a Mayan steam room, and then go down to the local river and have a swim. Foreigners are so rare here, that the kids at the river will probably stare and point in wonder at any outsiders who show up. You have to arrange a tour with one of the local villagers to get here. Money from these tours go to the village fund to build a road.

… You fought your way through the crowd that surrounded you outside. You are now the proud owner of 5 colorful bracelets and a clay figure that looks to you like a turtle. You ask if there are any rooms available. In broken English the girl at the reception says “Yes”, and gives you a list of the prices. The prices were fair. As the receptionist prepares the paperwork you scan the tour pamphlets lain out on the front desks. There are hundreds, each selling tours to the same places. Then one catches your eye. This one is not glossy or professional like the others, it is black and white with nothing more than a pyramid on the cover. “Where is Toniná?” you ask the receptionist…

Toniná

Toniná is located 3 hours from San Cristobal. Take a bus to Ocosingo, and then get a taxi, or collective to Toniná. Toniná is located in the middle of an open plain. Standing atop its highest level you can see for miles and miles in all directions. Getting a tour guide is highly recommended. The guide will lead you through the pitch black maze of the Shaman of death, and show you how the ancient Mayans had designed rooms to have natural air conditioning. A little known fact is that Toniná is actually responsible for the fall of Palenque (its famous cousin to the west). The museum outside the ruins is small, but worth a visit. Bring a large bottle of water, since there is very little shade during your tour and you will get thirsty.

…. You are finally here. Settled into your hotel room. Exhausted but excited. All that is left to decide is “What am I going to see tomorrow?”

For the Girls: Performing Gender in To Kill a Mockingbird and “Twelfth Night”

For most of us, the long, lazy days of summer conjure up memories of fortbuilding, skinned knees, sleepovers, and an influx of summer bugs befitting a biblical plague. For girls in particular, though, the summers of childhood were a time of liberation from the dresses and demureness that were unduly expected of them in the classroom. Sugar and spice my ass; childhood is about ROMPING.

Our collective memories of summertime adventure are undoubtedly the reason why Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird resonates so universally as a coming-of-age story – and why Jean Louise Finch, a.k.a. “Scout,” remains one of the most downright likable narrators in literature. She romps. She swears. She fights. She wins. And she does it all in 1930’s Alabama. (You thought your trademark backflip into the pool was impressive.)

Many people argue that Scout’s aggressive tomboy demeanor is the result of her reverence for her father and older brother, not to mention the fact that her mother is completely out of the picture. However, we mustn’t write off her femininity altogether. When her best pal, Dill, makes her an offer of marriage, she gladly accepts – and beats the living daylight out of him when he fails to show her the proper attention. When the wrongfully-accused Tom Robinson is murdered in prison, Scout temporarily relinquishes her abrasiveness to show a more ladylike respect – but takes on the project as a personal challenge. “After all, if Aunty could be a lady at a time like this, so could I.” You show ‘em, Scout.

If you’re in need of a literary pick-me up this summer, consider revisiting Scout and company in To Kill a Mockingbird. Or if you’re in the mood for a different kind of gender-bending heroine, pick up a copy of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” When the play’s beautiful protagonist, Viola, is separated from her twin brother during a shipwreck and stranded in a foreign land, she unflinchingly tackles the challenge that confronts her by striking a deal with some sailors, dressing up as a man, and finding work as the servant of a wealthy duke. Considering today’s job market, her plan doesn’t strike us as half bad.

Viola, a.k.a. “Cesario” the luscious manboy, quickly finds herself in a messy love triangle when the Duke Orsino commissions her to woo the Countess Olivia in his name. Finding Cesario’s attentive androgyny irresistible, the Countess instead falls in love with a disguised Viola, who, in the meantime, has fallen for the Duke. Although the shipwrecked twin brother eventually sets everything “straight” upon his return by marrying the Countess and freeing the Duke up to wed Viola, we must keep in mind that it is Olivia and not he that pops the question. In fact, the play ends with Orsino conceding that, since she still does not have a dress, Viola shall remain “Cesario” for the time being. Quite the unorthodox note to end on. Like To Kill a Mockingbird, “Twelfth Night” challenges traditional views of sexuality by entertaining the idea that gender is performed rather than inborn. And who understands performance better than William Shakespeare?

So pull on your overalls, pull out a slingshot, and put on one hell of a show.

15 Keys to Choose Sunglasses

Wonderful as sunglasses are, but actually, not all of them are right for you. Your sound and suitable sunglasses should be great in every detail. And some keys suggested by renowned experts about how to choose sunglasses are listed as follows.

First and foremost, the frame

1.In most cases, the frame of the glasses has the natural fluent arc. However, life needs innovation. The curve of the frame that can be designed into some more special shapes would be creative. Girls who do not have perfect face can disguise it as they can.

2.Some diamond inlaid decoration on the frame is nice. Select the location of the diamond is best in frame extension, which can plays a role in contraction the entire face. It will be more perfect to wear a silver necklace to echo the diamond.

3.A white frame will be popular this year. White can clearly outline the glasses, which is designed to be simple, neat. It is better to wear black and white clothes.

4.The colors of the frame yellow or green are not common. But it is because of rare to be prominent, which also brought a ray of cool for the hot summer. It is best to wear candy-colored clothes, which able to show you the lovely pure.

5.How do select frame and lens which colors are the same? Make frame lighter in color in order to draw a line, which do not hinder the overall harmony and to avoid the chaotic and uncertain.

Secondly, the lens

6.The shape of the glasses is closely related to face. People who have face had better choose wide and flat rectangular frame, which can improve the visual aspect ratio of your face.

7.A square face which has more edges and corners is more suitable to square sunglasses because it can stress the contours of you. But the dark glasses are restricted for square face of person.

8.If you have a lovely but little round face, broad sunglasses are best for you since they can add a little taste of cute to you.

9.For the melon face, a lot of shapes of the glasses are suitable for you. However, small lens and long side shape would be better able to highlight your natural strengths.

10.Great Black sunglasses have been popular since last year but have not yet obsolete. Big girls who have big faces can try. Black is not the only color that you can choose.

11.Changing-color tinted glasses have come to more popular. But it is not suitable for the use when light is too strong.

 Thirdly, decoration on frame

12.Whether carved patterns have appeared on the frame in this spring and summer will be one of the important measurements of taste of you. This carved metal frame would be more IN.

13.Since the diamond and carved pattern are the main elements of this year, why not combine them together? Black eyes highlight its gorgeous.

14.With two metal filaments created the most suitable frame.

15.A lot of prevalence of the element in clothes is “size-fits-all”, so we dare to learn from in sunglasses on it. Leopard is a good example. Coupled with the modification of the leopard, sunglasses will be even more unruly rave.

Will the Large Hadron Collider Endanger the Earth?

The  Worldwide General News  (WGN) TV channel was inundated with questions about the danger from the LHC which was commissioned. They decided to devote their next ‘Space Talk’ program to this subject. For the purpose, they invited Albert Burman and Kalpa, the experts to their Studio.

On the appointed day and hour, Larry Newton the presenter of the show appeared on the screen. “Good Evening viewers. I am happy to welcome our distinguished guests Albert and Kalpa for the show to our studio today. Let me begin with a short introduction about them. Albert and Kalpa are space beings written about in the Science Fiction book ‘Alien Man.’ They have explored the satellites of Saturn and discovered Steel, Gold and Plutonium! Albert and Kalpa share their experiences in space on TV from time to time. They are well known all over the World as Space Celebrities. Welcome to you both!” Larry began the session. He continued after a short pause, “The subject of our discussion is the danger of extinction from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the World’s largest and the most powerful particle accelerator. Our channel has received hundreds of messages mainly about the possibility of the Collider destroying the entire planet by converting it into a black hole. We want our viewers to hear your analysis on this subject.” Larry opened the topic for the day.

“Good Evening Larry. We are happy to be here with you today to enlighten all of you about black holes which might emerge from the LHC. At the outset I want to allay all your fears and assure you all that the LHC functioning will not result in the destruction of our beloved planet Earth.” Albert gave his unconditional assurance to the viewers.

“Albert is absolutely right. All fears that the black hole generated by the Collider will eat up the Earth are based on misinformation and have no scientific foundation.” Kalpa endorsed the assurance given by Albert.

“But the Collider will form the black hole. Isn’t that correct?” Larry asked pointedly.

“We don’t know for sure, the scientists are saying that it is highly improbable. But I sincerely hope that a black hole does form. It will advance our knowledge about the fundamental forces in the Universe.” Said Albert.

“But once the black hole is formed, however minute, it will gobble up matter and grow and grow till the whole Earth becomes a black hole. This is what people fear.” Said Larry.

“This fear has arisen out the simplistic view that the black holes that are formed when a star collapses into a dense ball which pulls everything inside and not even light can escape it. This was the view at the very beginning when scientists discovered the black hole in the Universe. But since then science has progressed further and we now have a far greater understanding of the properties of the black hole. It follows the same basic laws of gravity as other objects in space.” Kalpa put the knowledge of black holes in the right perspective.

“What is the power of its tremendous gravitational pull?” Larry asked.

“The gravitational force that a black hole exerts on another body depends on only 2 factors: mass and distance between them. The more the mass of the black hole the greater is its gravity, and conversely, the smaller is its mass, the smaller is its pull. Similarly, the closer the center-to-center distance between the black hole and the object, the stronger is the pull between them. In fact pull increases exponentially as the distance reduces. The actual gravitation attraction between the 2 bodies is dependent on the product of their masses, and is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.” Kalpa explained the basic theory.

“The black Hole does not have a unilateral force pulling the object. The black hole itself can be pulled by the gravity of other more massive objects. In the case of the LHC, if the black hole is formed, it will be hardly be made of 100 protons and will be very small indeed. In absolute terms is that the mass of the black hole will be one hundred times the mass of a single proton, about 100 x 16 E-26 kg. If you divide 1 kg. into 10 raised to 26 parts (1 followed by 26 zeros) and take just 16 of them you will get the mass of the black hole. As against that, the mass of the Earth is 6 E24 kg, which means 6 followed by 24 zeros, in kg units. This shows that the Earth is so much larger than the incumbent black hole by a factor of 10 raised to 50! (1 followed by 50 zeros). The difference is stupendous! The small mass of the black hole is truly insignificant as compared to Earth, and consequently it will be pulled by the Earth rather than vice-a-versa.” Albert explained the relative size of the black hole.

“But since it is a black hole, its size will be less than a millionth of that of the 100 protons! It’s so small that it can penetrate everything and anything. It will be pulled by Earth’s gravity and will travel through to the Earth accelerating with its gravity till it reaches the centre of the Earth and the decelerating as it goes out on the other side, to be pulled back in again. It will swing back and forth like a pendulum!” explained Albert.

“No hope of that! The black hole will just evaporate in a fraction of a nanosecond! Stephan Hawkings of the Cambridge University says that the black hole creates new energy particles on its surface which escape. This results in shrinking the black hole. He calls it ‘evaporation.’ He says the smaller the black hole the hotter it is and the faster is the rate of evaporation! I do not know why he looks at the black hole as a liquid which evaporates. I would rather look at the black hole as a solid which sublimes. But no matter how you describe it, the fact is that a small black hole of a few protons mass will evaporate and disappear faster than we can measure the time!” Kalpa explained why the black hole will not last.

“A black hole is made of very dense matter. Our Sun for instance, with its diameter of 1.4 million kilometers will shrink in size to just about 4 km to convert to a black hole. But its mass will be the same, and its gravity will remain the same. If the Sun becomes a black hole, it will not change any of the orbits of its planets in the Solar System. It will not pull the Earth and gobble it up.” Albert outlined the limitation of the black hole.

“If this is so then why do the scientists describe the black star with as a region of space with tremendous gravity forceful enough to prevent even light from escaping!” asked Larry.

“This is because for a given mass, an object can go much closer to the centre of the black hole than a star or a planet of the same mass. For example the radius of the sun is about 700,000 km. An object close to the Sun is stopped by its surface which is 700,000 km from its centre. But if the Sun converts itself to a black hole of 4km diameter, an object can go as near as  2km. from its centre. Since the distance from such a heavy mass is now reduced so drastically, that the gravity just near the centre increases by 700,000 x 700,000 = 490 billion times! But the effect of this incredible gravity is felt only in a region very close to the black hole. Such close distances are not achieved in a normal object like a star or a planet due to limitations of its comparatively large size. The difference in gravity vanishes as the object moves beyond a certain distance. Further away from a distance equal to the radius of normal star of the same mass, there is no difference in the gravity of the black hole and the star.” Kalpa was clear in her thinking.

“What you are saying is that the black hole can only stop light in a certain range beyond which it has no effect.” Larry summarized.

“That is correct. If the black holes could suck everything from everywhere, and prevent light from transmission, how could see the billions of stars in the sky? Their light could have vanished in the black holes!” said Albert.

“In the case of our LHC, the black hole generated will be of the size of about 100 protons. The protons will form into a ball and shrink about one millionth of their normal size. The diameter of a proton in units of a meter, is 10 raised to minus 15 (1 divided by 10 followed by 15 zeros). The diameter of the black hole is likely to be one ten-thousandth of this value. And the extraordinary gravity that the black hole can exert is only with a range of say 10 raised to minus 18 meter; which is a billion-billionth part of a meter! There is no possibility that any matter in the form of any protons or atomic nuclei coming so close to the minute black hole ball particularly in the extremely short duration of its existence. So for all practical purposes, there is no scope of the black hole expanding if at all it is formed.” Asserted Kalpa.

“There is another argument put forth by Steve Giddings of the University of California (Santa Barbara) and Michelangelo Mangano of LHC’s parent lab CERN. They point out that there are minute black holes being generated by cosmic rays hitting a neutron star, But these microsized black holes do not seem to grow inside the body of the star which is more than a trillion times denser than the rocks on Earth. From the observations made of the cosmos, the scientists infer that as black holes do not exist inside dense stars, they couldn’t exist inside the body of the Earth. And in case the black hole does exist it will probably take a billion years to grow to the size of a golf ball! They conclude therefore that there is no danger of the small black hole from snowballing into an Earth gobbler.” Albert brought out an authority on the subject.

“Anyway, coming back to our topic, whether the LHC will create a black hole which will destroy the Earth, the answer is an unequivocal ‘NO’! The LHC was switched on the 10th September but only for checking the functioning of the beams. There was no collision attempted. Now it is down for repairs and will be ready early in 2009. But rest assured that there is nothing going to happen to the Earth and to you when the LHC is switched on and the particle beams are made to colloid face to face at 99.9999% of the speed of light! No fears!” Albert spoke emphatically as Kalpa nodded in agreement.

“I am happy to hear that. To be frank, I was fretting too. But now I am fully relaxed. I have to thank you Albert and Kalpa for explaining the concept in simple language for the benefit of our viewers. The back office has informed me that their phone is constantly ringing with viewers giving appreciative thanks to you both. Now we can all sleep peacefully. Thank you again.” Larry wound up the discussion.

And with that the Space Talk show ended.

Denim - a Fashion Icon for the Modern Youth

Denim has almost reached an iconic status amongst the youngsters and whilst it is really difficult to point the time of exact evolution of the outfit called “jeans” into a youth icon, there is no doubt of their impact!

Jeans seemed to become a key fashion item for the mid-1950s teenage generation, and since then they have remained constant though, its fashion forms have changed slightly.

Denim is perhaps one of the most versatile materials that have never faded into oblivion in spite of the mushrooming of different materials and attires. It is almost an object of worship all across the world irrespective of religion, nationality or sex for that matter. Indeed, it has been conceptualized by fashion designers and worshippers all around the world in the form of skin tight jeans, shrugs, minis, micros, pedal pushers, jackets and many more.

After much research, today the fashion world can wear more than a hundred kinds of jeans fabrics including stretch, ramie cotton, poly, chemical denim washes and mechanical denim washes. Out of all these, stretch denim, according to a survey, rates the highest in the popularity chart. It is roughly 98% cotton and contains 2% spandex to create desired stretch. The spandex imparts the wonderful fit and the easy movement. The fashion world has caught the trend for strength denim; especially the female consumer due to skinny jeans causing rave in this arena.

Ramie cotton denim is not all that popular with youngsters because of the slightly higher prices in the markets.

Mechanical denim washes are also popular among the worshippers of jeans to attain the “torn and dirty’ look. The denims include stone wash and micro standing. In the stone washing process; newly dyed jeans are put in a special washing machine which is filled with pumice stones in order to achieve the desired soft hand, fashionable look.

The different jeans styles available make them all the more appealing. The trend that has spread like wild fire with people all over the world is skinny jeans. Trendy girls love to wear skinny jeans combined with high heeled pump shoes and love to flaunt their figures. Skinny jeans are best avoided for plus sized women as they stick to your body. Even skinny flares caught on recently when Mrs.Beckham was seen sporting a pair.

Some of the most searched brands of jeans that fall into the “premium” category are True Religion Jeans, Red Monkey Jeans, and Guess Jeans.

Hangover – How to Prevent and Cure Hangovers Quickly

It’s that time of year again we have hangovers and want to cure them.

Of course, you should not drink to excess in the first place but if you do, here are some proven methods that will work to cure your hangover fast.

Had too many drinks? Mixed them, soft (wine) and hard (whisky) at the same meal. Your head is splitting; you have nausea, a dry mouth, are dizzy, and can’t get out of bed?

That’s a division 1 hangover. How do you cure it? Read on.

What is a hangover?

The hangover above is caused by the combination toxic by-products after the metabolism of alcohol (in this case, the toxin is acetaldehyde) and it’s not a pleasant feeling!

Added to this are dehydration, and depletion of Vitamins A, B (particularly B6) and C brought about by the chemical action of alcohol in your body.

You are now suffering the effects of a mild overdose of a depressant drug, and your nerves in a hangover state are only reacting to it.

So in addition to all the above, you are also depressed and feeling low!

Some Preventive Measures (Prevention is also the cure)

Firstly, don’t drink on an empty stomach, ever. Always eat as you drink, and always something oily, including oil or butter by themselves.

This is an old trick from girls who don’t wish to get drunk at parties. 5 teaspoons of olive oil before drinking!

If you are still conscious as you are about to sleep, have a large glass of water or two.

These glasses of water can solve the dehydration problems caused by the drinking.

Also be sure and take painkillers with Ibuprofen being the one to go for not, aspirin! Aspirin will nothing for you or your hangover.

Waking up is really difficult, and you need something to help.

You won’t feel like eating or drinking anything, but if you are really up to it, try.

The Red Eye.

It’s not the most pleasant taste, but is known to really help and cure hangovers fast.

To make the Red Eye mix in a blender some whiskey, fresh coffee, some Tabasco sauce, a raw egg, pepper and orange juice.

It’s really an acquired taste to put it mildly!

If you can drink it and keep it down, you will feel normal in about 15 minutes.

If you are really brave, and really sick, try the Black Mary.

Here you mix coffee, tonic water, honey and orange juice.

This is equally Am unpleasant taste just like the Red Eye but most people agree it works faster.

And agreeing that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, then follow the following guidelines.

1. No mixed drinks.

If you drink hard liquor, drink it straight or with ice. No soft drinks or juices with it. These mixers will serve to get you drunk more quickly, and add a great deal more of toxic material for your body to rid itself of the next morning.

2. Drinking means no dairy products at the same time. No milk, cheese, ice-cream and cream sauces.

These are the vomit agents! Stay away from them.

3. Remember only time (and metabolism) sobers you. Coffee, fresh air, walking, and so on, does nothing at all to rid you of the toxic materials that cause a hangover.

4. Do not mix low alcoholic drinks (wine for example) with high alcoholic ones. Mixing these will get you drunk very quickly and sicker the next day. Stick to low or high, but do not mix. Remember this rule.

We all know we shouldn’t drink to much but if you want to prevent a hangover or cure one quickly, the above will work and work fast.
