Both Jewish and Zen practice call us to enter the journey, though in different ways.

In a sense, Judaism and Zen represent two opposite ends of a continuum: Zen is based upon radical freedom, letting go, being in the present and nonattachment. Judaism comes rooted in family relationships, love, prayer to a Higher Power and the injunction to hold on and remember. A Jewish heart is warm, giving, human, devoted to family and friends. A Zen eye is fresh, direct, spontaneous, unencumbered by ideas, beliefs, hopes or expectations. These two practices are like two wings of a bird; both are needed to be able to fly.

Each tradition addresses the primal questions that drive our lives and provides keys for finding answers. In Zen practice, you take time to remove yourself from family and friends, do zazen, journey within and awaken for the good of all. Jewish practice is done in the midst of the community. Relationships are central. It is said that God is to be found at the kitchen table, with family, friends and food. In Jewish prayer you go to God and ask for everything. In this way you always know the Source of your good and constantly offer thanks.

In Zen practice you do not pray for help at all. You do zazen, (zen meditation), sit, back straight, legs crossed, eyes down, facing the wall. You do not speak, reach out, touch, or listen to the troubles of others. You do not offer consolation or turn to others for support. In fact, what you thought of as support is taken away. If others are having trouble on the cushion, experiencing sorrow or pain, you do not interfere. Their experience is precious and they are now being given the opportunity to face it fully. The support you offer is silent and profound, just sitting strongly beside them, facing your own experience as well.

The need to combine Zen and Jewish practice always felt important to me. I was born into an Orthodox family where everybody had a different opinion about what God wanted from us. And I had a lot of questions: what was the true way, and why did people who were serving God with all of their hearts have trouble living in the same house? Today, many who feel displaced as well. They wish to relate to their original religion in a way that feels healing and congruent for them. It is easy to lose sight of the true purpose of any practice. Even with the best intentions, anger, judgmental attitudes and domination can easily replace the kindness, generosity and wisdom that are at the heart of all the teachings.

The practice of zazen (zen meditation) creates an atmosphere of acceptance, respect, clarity, kindness a illuminate your original teachings, and provides a deeper experience of them. And, your religion of origin can ground you in the reality of who you are. In this way, practicing both Zen and Judaism provides balance and richness as each practice enriches, illuminates and challenges the other.

Obviously not.

The name says it all. 8:00am “Tina is waiting for her bus - gosh, can this thing ever be on time??” 8:15am “Tina is FINALLY on the bus. I’m gonna be sooooo late to work!” 8:30am “Tina is STUCK IN TRAFFIC!!! ARGGHH!!” Hey, Tina - shut up.

Mr. Inappropriate:

This person has no regard for the fact that your trying-to-be-hip, 60 year-old Aunt Shirley has gotten into Facebook and has friended you. While she loves to look at pictures of your wife and kids on your page, it’s a shame and rather embarrassing that she has to see a post from this jerk once in awhile. Fortunately, you usually get a warning before you accept this person as a friend since his profile pic is typically a shot of him giving the finger or some other vulgar expression.

Ms. Small Business Lady:

She’s always sending constant updates about her small business, which she typically runs out of her home office and which is most likely arts-and-crafts oriented, such as a tote bag designer. Sadly, her stuff is typically pretty ugly and you only feel badly for not buying any of it.

Mr. Self Promoter:

Similar to Mrs. Home Business Lady, he only sends updates to where he is and his “super cool” business will be (he is typically a D.J. or fashion designer). “Ladies night @ Zanza-bar tonight. D.J. Rock Steady spins the night away.” Thanks for the invite, but not only is it a Wednesday and I have work tomorrow, Zanza-bar is in L.A. and I live in western Pennsylvania.

I suppose if there has to be a takeaway from this article, it’s that Facebook can be fun - but there may just be a reason you lost touch with about 85% of the people in your life along the way!

You may wonder how a new mystery/detective series could get you to watch when network and cable TV is saturated with them. Nathan Fillion is the star luminary in the cast, playing the part of Richard Castle Can this really be the same person who played Dr.Pomattor in Waitress? Not doubt it is the same person who played Captain Hammer in ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along’. Invoking the spirit of Phillip Marlowe, Castle will play with all your emotions with a powerful mix of comedy, mystery and romance. Women who are fans of the genre will find a lot to admire as well. The heroine of the show is detective Kate Beckett, portrayed by actress Stana Katic. She has earned a role co-starring in her own show, after playing parts in various episodes of other shows. Add to that Castle’s daughter, Alexis (Molly C. Quinn), and his mother, Martha Heath (Susan Sullivan) and a police force filled with well-portrayed supporting actors.

However, the powerful writing is what drives this great show. The pilot was well done by Andrew W. Marlowe, Barry Schindel, David Grae and Charles Murray. I thought that the plot developments, interesting crimes, and interplay among the characters couldn’t keep going a lot longer. I have been wrong.

Driving the show is the tension filled drama between the two lead characters, Castle and Beckett. He is a popular author who has been permitted to keep an eye on Beckett, despite her misgivings. Castle redeems himself with Beckett even though he often gets in the way, speaks out of turn and manages to be annoying. Little by little, Beckett is learning to rely upon his input, as well as his risk-taking, and care about him. And he has small ways of endearing himself to the staff, such as buying them a very upscale coffee machine.

Adding to the mix are Castle’s mother and daughter who couldn’t be different. His mom acts immature, has entitlement issues and needs to be seen. The young girl is wiser than her age would suggest, supportive of her father, limiting the power of her grandma. Castle is a dedicated dad who frets without reason (so far) for Alexis. She is one of the best actors in the series. Expect to see Molly for years to come.

Castle is easily one of my favorite shows. Hopefully it will have many more seasons. After ordering the Comcast HD Triple Play, I’m especially excited about the upcoming shows. I have come to believe that HDTV is the best way to view all my favorite television shows like Castle, and I look forward to the increased sound and picture quality. I found a terrific plan online where I can bundle Digital Cable, High Speed Internet, and one-price Digital Voice into a single, easy-to-pay, inexpensive plan. Beyond Digital Cable with HD, I can’t wait to try out my new broadband internet service from Comcast. I could neither view videos online nor hear songs because my obsolete DSL connection responded too slowly. Now, this will no longer be a problem. Now I don’t have to deal with minute by minute charges, due to Comcast Digital Voice. I can talk to whoever I want, local or long distance, anywhere in the country and only have one low bill. If you are in a Comcast serviceable area you should definitely look at the best deals they’re offering right now. These promotions won’t last forever!

If you find yourself wondering how to win your love back, than you apparently are still in love with your ex.  You are in a situation where your ex left you but you weren’t ready for the relationship to end. You are feeling sad and wondering what to do.

The first step anyone in your situation needs to take is to take a break from the situation.  If you were to try to win your love back shortly after the breakup things may not work out well.  If your breakup was a mess and not easy for anyone than it is really a mistake to move too soon on winning back your ex.  Take time out first to get your mind together.

Ex boyfriends or girlfriends usually hate someone who is needy and seems desperate, so make sure you ease off on any ideas to try to see your ex again right away or calling them constantly. This won’t be appealing to them.  Look after yourself first, which means avoiding the ex and backing off.  There will be a period of getting used to this since you may be used to seeing the ex all the time. But you can do it if you want to win back your love.  Being weak puts you in a vulnerable and negative position, especially if your ex had asked to be left alone.  

Be leery about falling into a depression.  You don’t want to have to deal with depression in addition to feeling sad about your breakup.  That is an extra problem you don’t need.  Work at sorting your feelings out.  Many people, especially ladies, fall into a trap of doing nothing after a breakup but sitting around thinking of the love they’ve lost.  You want to fill up your empty time with activities, friends or family. Don’t spend all of your time alone at this point in your life.

Get out of the house and meet new people or reconnect with old friends.  Visit family as much as you can.  Engage yourself in a new hobby.  In other words make sure you get yourself moving forward.  It may not be easy since you will be feeling sad, but to win your love back you will need to take care of yourself first.

When you finally do get your sanity back and the shock of the breakup isn’t as bad, then you can begin to think back on the relationship and how you may have played some role in the breakup.  It takes two to cause a breakup, even if one partner may have contributed to it more than the other.

You may be angry at the ex and so blame him or her completely for the breakup, but this is rarely completely true. So while you are away from the ex and thinking, not only think about how to win your love back but think about things that you can change yourself to solve any problems the relationship previously had.  Were there any little mistakes you were making that may have caused the breakup?  If you come up with things then you need to figure out what to do to rectify your behavior, to prevent another breakup in the future after you win your love back.

Some of the above steps may seem counter-intuitive to you, such as waiting a period before contacting your ex again, but these are the some of the steps you will have to take to win back your love.  They are only the beginning of the process but they will be a good beginning.

Water cleanses our body. It promotes the efficiency of blood circulation to help expel the toxins out of the body. Water aids the body in swilling out waste from particular cells, keeping them in good state. While it carries away toxins from the skin, water also transports necessary vitamins and minerals into individual cells.

Water comprises 70% of our body. Skin, being the largest organ, has a lot of water in it. Because of this, our skin needs regular re-hydration. The most powerful moisturizers are not enough to take the place of the element that comprises our body most. Not enough re-hydration causes the skin to look dry, tough, and old.

As we get older, if we are not flushing out all the generated wastes by drinking water, we allow these toxins and impurities to mount up within our body. For our body to operate and to maintain temperature, we consume nutrients inside our cells. The chief ingredients of all foods, real or junk, plant or animal, alkaline or acid, costly or not, are proteins, fats or carbohydrates. And these are nothing but the amalgamations of these elements: oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen.

After undergoing the digestive and circulatory processes, these nutrients will be oxidized in the cellular level. After this, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen will all turn into organic acids: fatty acids, ammonia, uric acids, etc.

These acidic rubbishes are expelled in the form of urine or sweat after having undergone some processes in the blood. Regrettably, as a result of our lifestyles (i.e., too much stress, not getting enough sleep, not enough workout, too much ingestion, smoking, etc.), the body can’t rinse out all those acidic wastes produced in our body.
